  The Purpose of Marketing

For any business to grow in size and profitability it is absolutely necessary to have a solid business plan which must include your marketing strategy. Marketing is the process of getting your potential clients attention and by having a plan in place you will know what you want to achieve, what to do to get there and why you are doing it.

There are many different ways to market your business and your budget may restrict the solutions you choose, but no matter which method you decide to the basic principles of the marketing plan remain the same, understanding your market, completion and the business opportunities of your product or services within your market. By researching these vital areas you will start on the path to a successful business and marketing campaign.
The internet has bought around a very affordable way to market a small business on a comparatively small budget via PPC (pay per click) or SEO (search engine optimisation).
These two methods of online marketing are complimentary to each other an should both be considered as a part of your online marketing strategy.

Other online advertising methods include email marketing and banner advertising. These methods generally don’t achieve the same level of results as PPC or SEO due to email spam filters and banner blindness.

Of course the virtual online world is a great place to market your business, but the offline world is also full of great opportunities. Building a strong brand that people will remember and connect will help your efforts once you have gained the attention of a client you can add them to mailing lists and send them branded brochures and leaflets to keep them interest in your products or services periodically.

The desired result from increasing your exposure through any of these marketing techniques is increased sales and revenues but getting the potential clients attention is just the first step as you must make sure that the clients experience with your business is a positive one and then you may turn them in to returning visitors or referrers.

It’s easy to overspend on your annual budget for your marketing when starting your business. Every penny should be accounted for and your budget should be realistic and compliment your business plan.
